Director

Alex Murray

Alex Murray is an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Oregon and Director of the UO IF Lab. His research examines how emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) impact organizations and society. Specifically, his research emphasizes the processes of decentralized governance, agentic representation, and conjoined agency between humans and technology. He complements inductive field-based approaches with statistical analyses to address empirical and theoretical puzzles stemming from technologically driven organizational phenomena. He is faculty advisor for the Artificial Intelligence Student Association and the Oregon Blockchain Group.

Murray is a guest editor of Academy of Management Review’s Special Topic Forum on “AI in Management” and his research has been published in scholarly outlets including Academy of Management Annals, Academy of Management Perspectives, Academy of Management Review, Business Horizons, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science, and Research Policy.
